Charles Koch: Clinton Might Make Better President Than Republican Candidates

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Billionaire industrialist Charles Koch, a key source of financing for conservative Republican causes along with his brother, said Democrat Hillary Clinton might make a better president than the candidates in the Republican field.

Koch, in an interview to air on Sunday on ABC’s “This Week” program, said that in some respects Bill Clinton had been a better president than George W. Bush, who Koch said had increased government spending. Then when asked if Hillary Clinton would be a better president than the Republicans currently running, he said, “It’s possible, it’s possible.”

ABC said Koch, who along brother David leads an influential political organization called Freedom Partners, has been displeased so far with the tone of the Republican presidential race, in which billionaire Donald Trump leads U.S. Senator Ted Cruz of Texas and Ohio Governor John Kasich.

Asked if he could support Clinton over the Republicans, Koch responded, “We would have to believe her actions would be quite different than her rhetoric. Let me put it that way.”

While many conservatives have questioned Trump’s commitment to their agenda, a spokesman for the Koch brothers said last month that they would not use any of their money to block him from winning the Republican nomination.

Billionaire businessman Charles Koch said in an interview airing Sunday that “it’s possible” another Clinton in the White House could be better than having a Republican president.

Koch, the CEO of Koch industries, made the comment to ABC News’ Jonathan Karl for an interview airing on ABC’s This Week.

There are two ways to look at that. One way is the lazy way. The other way is to realize that when your BFF is Henry Kessinger, and now the Koch brothers find you palatable, maybe you shouldn't be in the Democratic Party. Or, maybe I shouldn't be in the Democratic Party.

Then what's the lazy way breh? :heh:

The 2nd way you described is pretty much the entire argument against her being the democratic nominee.

Koch-backed group praises Bernie Sanders''

The group at the center of the Koch brothers' vast political network is praising Bernie Sanders for opposing the Export-Import Bank and for his attacks on corporate welfare.
Freedom Partners put out the web video highlighting its common ground with the Vermont senator ahead of Wednesday night's Democratic debate.
The video features a clip of Sanders responding to a question from the previous debate about why he opposed the Export-Import bank, a favorite punching bag of the Koch brothers. Sanders' stance has put him at odds with many of his fellow Senate Democrats, including Elizabeth Warren.
"I don't want to break the bad news, but Democrats are not always right," Sanders says in the clip. "Democrats have often supported corporate welfare."
Another clip features Sanders saying, "Seventy-five percent of the funds going from the federal government to the Export-Import Bank goes to large, profitable corporations."
Text then reads "we agree" and continues, "that's why we oppose corporate welfare across the board."
Freedom Partners has also swiped Clinton for supporting the Ex-Im bank.
And Clinton supporters seized on Wednesday’s video as proof that the Koch network was trying to boost Sanders, with the suggestion being that the Kochs see him as easier to defeat in the general election.
But a Sanders campaign official shot back, suggesting that the video was intended to hurt Sanders, by creating the perception that he is the preferred candidate of the Kochs — an association that would be toxic in the Democratic primary.
Sanders' digital fundraising manager Michael Whitney went so far as to suggest the ad was a contribution to Clinton, tweeting, “Congrats to Clinton campaign for the contribution from the Koch Brothers.”

Koch's are libertarians, not conservatives.
