that as a grown man who encountered rap as a grown man he was got his values from rappers as a grown man?

nah he's a joke

plus if you look at it hip hop has never done more to showcase marriage life than in the last 10 years. in the 90's rappers hid their spouses

nowadays they floss them.

dude is just a self righteous clown show and the platform he on is the icing on the cake

can't be right about anything when you going to have Black family talks in front of a Russian jew who framed Farakkhan and said he wouldn't apologize for it. you just a sucka and you entertainment... that is all

Look here… This ain’t no hot take…. Elders were saying this in the late 80s…. and they were right….. as the messages in music changed for the youngin, the frequency of the neighborhoods slowly followed…. Music can make you cry, hype, joyful, sad, etc…. but somehow it’s impossible that it can’t play a hand in influencing negative behavior? :smh:

I done lives through it and know for a fact that it plays a part… It’s definitely not the sole culprit of course, but to say it doesn’t have any effect is burying your head in the sand….. nikkas over 40 that grew up in the hood should absolutely know better… especially if you got kids…..

hip hop had your average breh looking at women like hoes in the 80's? :dahell:

:duck:

never mind that the pimps most people emulate are more Blackploitation era than rap centric. Even from those rappers themselves. 2 live crew, 2 short were anomalies in rap like 1-5% of the content type and subject matter. NWA was facing harsh scrutiny and music STILL HAD BALANCE OF CONTENT. Not even factoring that we had r&b to balance out the harsh reality raps.

fall for sensationalism from a crackhead clown dancing like a puppet on a string for his master orchestrator. this isn't woke, it's not knowledge it's entertainment and curated to generate the most interest for both parties. that is all. One has a whole self righteous act and the other eats from facilitating Black dysfunction on his platform.

You sure you familiar with rap like that? Balance is supposed to be in everything and there was a lot more of it back then….., I’m talking about what nikkas was actually listening too back then…… you can’t send mixed messages, and even the groups you named as examples had songs degrading women…. couples that with the booty shake era in the south back then and you could see this shyt coming a mile away…..

Hip hop was anti hoe for years. It pushed being a player but never pushed dealing with hoes

The kids reflect the neglect of the parents, specifically the father
Some kids are influenced by the entertainment they consume, even if they get love at home.

Saigon said it straight up, his label wanted him to make shoot ‘em up bang bang songs. He refused, and they dropped him.

I think speaking with your kids about entertainment not being reality is important. But hey, people lie to their kids about Santa clause.

That's true but most can be wrangled in with the mentorship a father should be doing. You're right about communicating about entertainment vs reality to your kids. They really believe what they see on tv is real and you have to constantly compartmentalize and summarize what they're watching in a way for them to grasp it on a higher level. A moral level. Or just turn it off altogether.

For sure, having a great father in your life will make a tremendous difference in a child’s life. That’s without question. I’ve seen where all my friends without pops ended up. A majority have been to prison, some are dead, but a few of us are doing well.
