Why have both since there’s some overlap in benefits?i have the amex platinum and the chase sapphire reserve..for travel csr is the best card, any hotels cheaper and 50% more if you book with points. i just came back from europe and had 63k points on my csr and 52 on my amex. the amex only got me 2 nights, while the cheaper hotel deals and 50% additional points booking had me book 6 days of hotels all paid for by points.

do you use the CSR for everyday purchases as well? and how many times can you use an American airline gift card for a specific flight? were you able to use all 4 gift cards for a flight?I get value out of both in separate ways that save me more than the annual fee, for every year i get 300 in travel credit on CSR, my amex I get $200 in travel credit from specific airlines, last week i bought $200 in american airlines gift cards, this week i will buy 200 more thats free flights. I get free urber credit with my amex monthly so this is a benefits, I get $100 saks credit with boths cards so use those.
Amex lounge access give me access to hundreds more lounges. I get special event perks with both cards, my CSR gives me 3x dining credit, amex 5x travel credit but like i said I dont use this for travel because amex still has less hotel options and no 50% bonus booking.
CSR also has much more travel airline partners where you can redeem 1to 1 miles. I got about $6000 worth of travel out of these cards so it offsets the $450 and $550 annual fee on them. the yearly travel credits alone almost surpass them... hope this helps

oh the CSR card is a better cards, it has been the top premium card since it came out..
but as a status symbol Amex Platinum, pull it out and people automatically assume you are doing well because it has been the prestigious cards for decades...so it will get you some a$$ easier once these thots see it lol

I'm looking at the
Amex Plat (benefit card)
Chase CSR (everyday purchases and will redeem towards UA flights since I'm at their hub)
Amex Gold for Restaurants/Supermarket
Hotel Card (???)
As far as hotel cards, do you have any?

CSR Has a credit limit right? And wait, you can use thenAMEX travel credit towards a gift card from your prefered airline? Wow
how often should one be flying per year to get the full value out of the amex platinum?I dont have the hotel card, both cards give me benefits to hilton gold rewards and other top hotel chains rewards.
i rotate between my CSR and my capital one venture platinum for everyday purchases really but always use CSR when eating out, even if you go to subway you get triple points.
people only think there can use the travel credits on the specific airline, each year jan 1st you have to select you specified airline and there are only like 8 airlines. American, delta, jet blue, spirit, southwest, and a couple others. They assume once you pick the airline you use the credit only on bag fees, and on boards food purchases but I learned the secret to get the giftcards through a forum ill post below that also has a section in the credit card area for Amex platinum and CSR.
This forum taught me the tricks to getting the giftcards you can use them anytime and they dont expire you can stack as much as you want, if you want to use them together to pay for a flight.
CSR is different once you book anything travel whether it is a hotel, airline ticket, airbnb you automatically get the credit until the $300 meter has been filled.
I like using the Amex to keep my credit utilization rate low, since it is a charge card and not a credit cards it doesnt show up on credit owed but the downside is you have to pay it offer every month in full if there is a balance.
check the forums below i stop paying for hotels lol

lol yea the CSR has a credit limit but the lowest limit is 10k so of you dont have enough credit to get a 10k credit card save yourself the hard pull on your score and get the Chase Sapphire Preferred.

at least to cover the cost of the card, if you get it you automatically have to pay $550 the following month, you get $200 credit plus Global entry credit of $100 thats $250 assuming you only use it on yourself and gift it to someone else, uber is $200 a year thats $450, you get $100 a year saks credit thats $500, if you spend 5k in 3 months 50k bonus points thats like $750 in dollars ..right there you are up to 1250 plus the point you accumulated over the year which will be in the thousands...as you see your fee is paid for and you get alot of perks, its the cost of having good credit..plus you get invites to special events for day they gave amazon echos and bose speakers to people entering centurion lounges......
For context tou gotta spend 500 to get the Saks kickback, and your only gonna use the global entry credit once every 5 years.
