I thought the same thing. However, you have to get paid more if you are going to leave your old job especially one as comfortable as ESPN.

Who's to say he will even be around to work out that contract. Who's to say there wont more layoffs in the coming years.

There aren't that many black GM's in the NBA and he turned it down.

Sometimes you gotta look beyond the money. But at the end of the day he probably look at the dynamic of the team and the volatility of the situation. He was going into an established team environment so there was little wiggle room to learn on the job. He saw it as a lame duck situation. He wasn't going to pick his coach and then there was LeBron. Honestly I wouldn't have even offered him the position.

Naw fukk all that reasoning you doing. The only thing that matters is getting max dollars right now. Don't leave any money on the table, ever. It's about generational wealth and Chauncey sees that. Anyone who disagrees is a c00n.

It's still a fukking job.

You guys treat sports contracts like it's the lotter. Owners didn't become billionaires by being stupid. Nobody is dumb enough (most of the time) to throw away money for the sake of doing it.

Chauncey feels he work x amount of dollars. But based on what? He has no front office experience.

He didn't wanna uproot his family for a pay cut. He probably would have considered less pay if his kids were over 18 and Finished with high school

Let's be real here, if Chauncey thought LeBron was going to stay he takes this job regardless of the payout.

The Cleveland Cavaliers offered former NBA All-Star Chauncey Billups what is viewed in NBA circles as a below-market salary of $2 million annually for the role of serving as President of Basketball Operations, league sources told ESPN.

According to sources, the team's initial offer was $1.5 million. League sources tell ESPN $4 million is typically the starting point of what an individual in that role should earn. Sources maintain financial compensation wasn't the only factor as to why the 40-year-old Billups turned down the job on Monday after weeks of deliberation, but it played a part.
