You can get a nice clean old Expedition, Navigator, Denali or Escalade in that price range if you look hard enough.

Unless you really penny pinching...the differences in gas mileage in most OLD smaller SUV's and the Man sized ones are negligible.

Definitely worth the few extra dollars in gas to ride in something bigger, badder & more gangsta :birdman:

:ohlawd: found me a 2004 Escalade, 130k miles for $6,000

 holding off tho

The 04's are clean and still look relatively modern

I know a couple of guys with Grand Cherokees and they swear by them. I'm thinking about getting one myself. I saw a 1998 Grand Cherokee for $2,000. It has 147K on the odometer and it drove fine to me. V8 model, sunroof, and I'm thinking if I get it I can put another $3,000 into it and make it a nice truck in case I need to go off-road in it.

Do ya'll find that the ride quality on these SUVs is better than sedans?

I don't like SUVs because I rather get something sexier but I can't take it with the potholes and bumps in NYC anymore and I'm about to make that switch.

Can't speak for crossovers but regular SUVs float on roads especially rough roads

A lot of people Also overlook the Honda pilot /acura mdx. That's a rock solid SUV plus the 4 wheel capabilities are amazing
I'm looking at the Honda Pilot seriously....it's just the lack of horsepower that bothers me. A Nissan Pathfinder would probably be better for me.

yeah if you're looking for HP a pathfinder is good but I think the newer ones have cvt trans. My girl owned a 06 pilot before she wrecked it and it was quick for what it we to me.
