we bought a complete reno in Cozumel in the state of Quintana Roo a few years ago
if you can get local prices its not too expensive, property taxes and utilities are cheap
when its finished, we will use it as a vacation home and then retire
Cozumel is an island with only 100k people , but its real touristy in spots because of the cruise crowd.
A lot of people like Merida in Yucatan, has about a million people and there is a huge breh expat community there.

When I retire from my city job I’m moving to panama. Uncle did it, his pension only 60k but you wouldn’t know it. He got a beachfront condo down there with a maid that come 2x a week
