The kiss was unneccesary. Even straight politicians aren't kissing their spouses in their ads.

i agree with you here.. i think this also feeds into the fear many homophobes have about the lgbt community..... however, if i lived in maryland this ad wouldn't persuade me to vote for or against him.... i'd be more concerned about his policies... but that's just me....
