HBO has been releasing some great mini-series, and I have no doubt that this excellent as well. Can't wait for this and Watchmen.

Always been fascinated by this. To this day, you still can't live in Chernobyl because of the radiation level...though I have a Russian friend that claims there are a handful of people there that won't leave. :mindblown: They should consider doing one on the most recent disaster at the Fukushima Daiichi plant in Japan. They still haven't contained that....and some studies show that much of the aquatic life in the Pacific is being affected by the radiation from that plant.:merchant:

That’s true, their is a number of people that live on the outskirts of Chernobyl still. Hopefully, the discuss how people in Chernobyl weren’t told about the accident and only found out because people from America and Europe were calling and asking friends in the Soviet Union what was going on. I met a Ukrainian woman who told me that the world knew for months what they would eventually be told. The fukkery behind that entire situation was peak Soviet Union. Fun fact the Soviet unions version of Disney land was to be opened the next day before the reactor blew.

Why would they do that? :mjdrinking:

Besides if they did, they wouldn't be able to find enough Japanese actors to play the parts. :mjpls:

Can someone explain to me why people in this miniseries have fukken british accents? :whatthefukk:

Filming location or no juice/balls to find and make the entire cast Russian. You gonna have to suspend your disbelief and pretend.

It was like that for HBO's Rome too. Main cast were either Brits and Scots (there was effort mixing in Latin words in their speech for some authenticity) and you'd only see some the extras and background characters were of Italian descent. Same for Spartacus: Blood & Sand which mostly used Brits, New Zealanders, and Aussies to act as Romans.
