What do you mean "learn" how to play. It's not difficult, all you need to know is how the different pieces can move. Becoming proficient at it is a whole nother story.

you sure it a bit time consuming........best thing i would say to do is start out, learning certain openings you like and chess tactics.

When I said that, I was speaking relatively. Obviously a novice, amateur, or average person in general would think it's difficult. But the person that I played that did it is nowhere near one of the top chess players in the world, I think he is ranked but nothing extremely high. By that statement I just meant that amongst those who are good at the game, it's not some extraordinary feat that separates the good/great players from the elite.
