she told her son he couldn't have a cookie, so he ran out of the house -- where was the mother at this point? the older brother chases after the younger brother, but cant catch a 9 yr old because he's missing his shoes. then the boy somehow ended up in the back of an apartment complex.

now looking at google maps, he basically made a straight shot. the area looks dilapidated, but i dont see how a 12 yr old could be outran by a 9yr old, even barefooted.the area isn't crowded. there's something missing from this story and hopefully it all comes out to light
