here's a great story from an independent news source reiterating the drastic reduction in crime here, and they are mostly attributing it to increase in funding to community outreach, which is detailed in the video below:

Increased funding for community programming has helped Baltimore too. Imagine that…people resorting to crime less when their needs are met. Who’da thunk it?
It’s crazy that we know this, as this effect has been studied in every corner of the globe, yet we continue to rely upon a system of exploitative capitalism. Wanna see crime decrease and equity increase? Invest in a social safety net. But ppl don’t wanna pay higher taxes…even though it’ll improve the overall quality of life.ALSO, if you go to around 19:10 of the video, they lay a crime map next to a median household income map and surprise surprise, there's a direct correlation between crime and median household income. furthermore, the neighborhoods with higher median income surprisingly have a shyt ton more jobs.

The numbers were down before ICESo is this because of ICE and NG? Or are we not allowed to say that yet?
Same story in every low income area. The jobs and infrastructure are elsewhere. I bet the public transit is shyt too. And food quality.I been living on the south side for the better part of 20 years. and the problem still remains the same. unless you're a teacher, cop/fireman/city worker or in healthcare, there aren't many high paying jobs in other industries like you see downtown/north/near west side. if there were adequate jobs out here, people would definitely do them. or want to move out here to be close to said jobs.
yeah I know ford is on the south side, but that's damn near in indiana

Ahhh I stand corrected. Still, it’s a thing I’ve noticed in hoods around the world — the infrastructure silos the hood from professional and academic opportunity.actually, public transportation is a non-issue. even in the hood. they are all well served by bus and trains.
there still are some food deserts, but not nearly as many as before. like I said, I live on the south side, yet I can walk to the end of the block to catch a bus any time of day or night, walk two blocks to catch a train (also runs 24/7), and walk 4 blocks and have my choice of 3 different groceries stores (jewel/food 4 less/aldi)
