A Chicago man has been charged in connection with a string of robberies, which took place in different hotels in Near North Side, an upscale area of central Chicago.
On Tuesday, police said that the meetings were arranged through the online gay dating app Grindr.
Investigators say that 20-year-old Davion Johnson met his victims after meeting them on the app. He then lured them to hotels and used a stun gun to steal their personal belongings.
He was arrested Monday, and charged in three robberies, The Associated Press reported.
In January, Chicago police issued an alert, in which investigators described a pattern of a young man in his 20s, who was setting up dates with mostly older men in the area, and then robbing them with a stun gun.
Johnson was connected to three incidents since November. In at least two of them, he allegedly used a stun gun on the victims, when they refused to hand him their possessions.
