Big difference is that Sunni/Shia were fighting over control of a nation and religious conflicts that have been running for more than a thousand years.
Nowadays a lot of murders in Chicago for instance aren't even over drugs/territory. It's petty personal beef. Ppl feeling disrespected over social media, or bc someone fukkd their girlfriend.
The Sunni and Shia fought more for tribalism than control of the nation. It essentially boiled down to the removal of years of abuse causing enough of a personal affront to kill your neighbor. Just as stupid and pointless right? It always starts small then increases in scale.
The blood fueds that drive this are essentially the same. The affiliations are more closer to a religion than other regions, even passed through families. The opportunity to be paid for it, is another thing driving some of them to shoot rivals.
You don’t have to be a Muslim country to devolve into what Iraq was between 03-07. There’s plenty of them based on social, monetary, and geographical differences throughout history.
There’s plenty of stupid reasons for a lot of violence, intra-racial or not. Using a method, that has never created anything but exponentially more violence that quickly spreads to those who aren’t involved, is not a solution. I get frustration but this is something that will take, at least, another generation to fix.
Even the suggestion of this type of shyt sounds just like those draft dodgers who make decisions to invade places like Iraq for no real reason. They don’t even feel the consequences.
It all starts with someone, who don’t even have it in themselves to do something that horrible, loudly declaring that “someone should do something about this”. They damn sure wouldn’t do it in their own backyard.
In the big scheme of things there isn’t much of a difference between anyone.
