The 70s were so bad because the city was more poverty stricken. They hadn't started gentrifying it and all the white people were happy living in the burbs. The shift you see is literally when they started moving the parts around. Pushing blacks out to the west/southside and the south burbs. My father use to live on the northside in wicker park the 70s and it was as bad as some south side neighborhoods are now. Wicker is the yuppiest neighborhood up here now. And the south burbs is looking like south side in some areas.

White boys were banging pretty hard back then upnorth. And out south.

That's exactly how Uptown gets you! Apartments be all renovated, nice af and inexpensive. But crime definitely isn't a rarity over there. However, if you've ever lived in tge hood before and know what to look for its not that bad. Definitely not like the bullshyt going on south and west.

2 of my dudes were in Englewood visiting family n all that, and when they were walking from a gas station midday with a cousin, they were getting scoped out by some nikkas chillin by the sidewalk, not even mean mugged, just checked out. But then the group recognized that my dudes cousin was with them when they got closer


One of the group apparently said some shyt like "Glad you were with those two nikkas breh, we didnt know them, we thought they were opps. We almost took out the poles on those 2 nikkas"

Almost got guns pulled out on them for not being known

A couple weeks back I was shopping spots to stay, and I was looking up a spot on I believe 69th and Morgan. I'm sitting in the car waiting for a realtor/owner, and a breh pulls up in a car across the street, and looks at me for a solid 3 minutes. Mind you it's 1 pm in the afternoon.

Whatever that was, my intuition says I don't need to be leaving the demons I know in one city for the devils I don't know in another.

You say 1-2 a day isn't bad because you aren't that 1-2. Most of these big cities are just padding their numbers with a huge population. Even so if someone asked you to move somewhere that you had a 1in 30 chance a day of getting killed I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be jumping at it. We haven't even discussed the non lethal violence either.



As much as people hate police, shyt like this is what keeps them gloating and doing all the stupid shyt they do. I grew up in 80's-90's warzone Brooklyn where it 30-40 guys Rob a whole subway car and dreads and younger cats fought for blocks everyday and now none of that even happens like that anymore so it can be done. They have to make a serious push and draw the line somewhere. But big cities putting up occupied Iraq war numbers needs to be a thing of the past.

I said 1-2 a day is not Narco numbers. That is all i said. It's bad for an American city in 2016, sure. But lets not exaggerate.

when i went to chicago heights to visit my fam they had serious smoke with the latin cobras. they werr 4ch. His babymoms lived right in their hood so he would sneak in and out. Back then i was young and reckless so I was with the shyts completely and dying ti show them how we got down in my city

Those are the areas I was looking into. Lincoln Park, Lakeview and if I went to the South Side...Hyde Park.

Safest neighborhoods on the south side are Beverly, my greenwood, and Morgan park

Chicago is a beautiful, fun, culturally rich city. In the summer, I sometimes think its the best city in the US.

But that south and west side....

And some of Pilsen, Uptown, Rogers Park, and even Hyde Park and Logan can be murky. But these areas are mostly safe.

Pilsen??? Didn't u read the trib articles posted here. Folks been gettin murked out in Pilsen left and right in 2016.
