Nah, I question everything. It's actually hard to pin my ideals down to one ideology. But the foundation of my ideology is rooted in the constitution.
You DO NOT send the military on your own people. The fact that the "states rights" people e.g. "YOU" don't see an issue with violating the core document that protects against tyranny, is BEYOND perplexing.
Let's say for instance Chicago does have a crime problem; it does, but it's been dropping but it's way lower than it was from the 60s-90's; rather than collaboration with the mayor and the governor, he's just gonna send in the military... which may work in the short term, but we can't spend that kind of money every single month, so eventually they will leave. However, while they are here... not only brutally repressing the people here, but also potentially getting lots of people caught in the system who did nothing wrong because the military doesn't do police work. They are 2 fundamentally different disciplines. Moreover the hundred million or so it's going to cost to deploy these untrained storm trooper deputies could actually just be given to the police department. They could hire over 1800 police officers with that money.
This whole plan is stupid, its an incompetent show of power even by authoritarian standards. It hurts innocent people, isn't really catching anyone illegal or criminal in proportion, acclimates us to just getting used to the military being in the streets fukking people up, and undermines the founding principles of this country. If we don’t have a constitution we don't have a country.
And the fact that a 10th grade civics class hasn't already spelled this out for you is mind-boggling but it explains a lot why this dumbass country is in this dumbass situation.
