Chicago's homicide rate is about 21 per 100,000. Many cities in the U.S. have higher homicide rates. I cannot for the life of me understand why it's overstated. Is to give "reason" to speed up gentrification? Is it because it's the hometown of our sitting president? Homicide rates throughout major U.S. cities are lower today than they have ever been in our lifetimes. And when has violence within our community not been a topic of discussion? Anti violence campaigns, programs & protests have been staples in our communities for as long as I can remember.
