Question for the older Harlem/NYC folks...

Was it always a thing out there? Or something you could only get from certain spots?

I ask because I feel like Chicken and Waffles went from a fringe thing to something you see everywhere now, especially over the past 20 years, to the point where people think it’s Southern in origin and has always been around.

Brooklyn keeps on taking it.

It def wasn’t a big thing in Brooklyn growing up in my years. I honestly didn’t see people talking heavy about chicken and waffles till after high school.

Then again I’m not from Bed Stuy, ForTe Green of Clinton Hill.

Nowadays even the West Indians have added Chicken and Waffles to their menus.

Black people started it.

There were probably cooks in Harlem (that's had just come from the South) feeding busy musicians (also straight from the South) a dish that we all know and love.

Prefer my waffles soft.....
