Harlem.
Jazz musicians would play all night and wouldn't get to eat until the time where all the restaurants had was leftovers from the last night (fried chicken) and were already starting to makes breakfast (waffles)

Question for the older Harlem/NYC folks...
Was it always a thing out there? Or something you could only get from certain spots?
I ask because I feel like Chicken and Waffles went from a fringe thing to something you see everywhere now, especially over the past 20 years, to the point where people think it’s Southern in origin and has always been around.

I just realized that was root beer and not alcohol on the cover.
