The current statistics say it happens around 1 or 2 % of the time - and that includes accusations where the woman does not recant, but the police or prosecutor choose not to move forward because rape culture and institutional misogyny.

I'm not tryna debate this but you can't excuse the ones who do lie. They hurt real victims as much as they do the people they falsely accuse.
