50k first week on Interscope (or any major label) is a flop. GBE needs to change their name to Brick Squad after this.

Posters on a message board apparently don't understand what a flop is. You can't sit there and just say 50K is a flop or a success without knowing:

1) How much was actually invested in the project?

2) The expectations of the label vs. what he'll actually sell.

Then there's the fact that labels don't actually see first week sales as the end all be all. Just because he's on a major and does 50K doesn't mean he flops. It appears people just say an artist flop because they didn't sell what THEY expected them to sell vs. knowing what the label expected and having a logical justification of saying somebody flopped.

It's called projections with a margin of error of + - 4%, also known as a forecast, based on empirical data. Finally Rich based upon DD i.e. itunes/Amazon, as well as Brick and Mortar through these mediaums he sold on "DAY ONE" about 10,000 CD's, based on that empircal data they can project X amount of copies sold through out the week and that # decrease daily.

Just because it's an artist is on a major doesn't necessarily make 50K a flop. Not knowing what was put into the project, Interscope's expectations and what not, it isn't possible to say that it's a flop.

We don't have any idea about how much money went into his project, which is why there's no way to legitimitely call it a flop or a success. Nobody's posted anything pertaining to what the heads at Interscope expected. There's nothing that states how much was put into the project. Even if we did, his first week sales projections still wouldn't indicate whether the album's a success or failure. We still don't know the label's long term expectations and plans.
