please elaborate. this is something I am not aware of.

he was implicated by a wiretap on his business partner, friend and manager chilly. thankfully, nobody snitched, and the coded language they used wasn't enough to send lupe to do those football numbers. but, he did testify in court at chilly's trial. as a defense witness, of course.

i'm not saying lupe is a superthug. hell, no. but dudes aren't listening to lupe's albums, if they think he's just spitting nerd raps. lupe is definitely well acquainted with the streets and the game. lupe speaks in a lot of codes that those of us familiar with "that life" recognize. but you can also tell he's heartbroken over what HE did and what he sees. he' s a real nikka who doesn't hide who he is, if you listen.
