We all know he grew up in the hood so I won't address that and from what I've seen n heard of him he seems like the type that's been there and done that and seen a lot of dirt but is smart enough to know/reflect on the troubles his (or others around him) actions cause in the community and is conflicted by it.
I'll believe someone like him that makes "soft"/"positive" music is about that life before believing a loud gangster rapper that brags on records.
