The Chinese don't like blacks and look down on Africans. Their government would only do business in Africa if they feel there is some tremendous benefit in doing so. 60 billion is a trip in a bucket for the Chinese, which was the largest economic base on the planet. While I see it as a positive Africa is doing deals to update infrastructure, Africans and those concerned about Africa should be wary of defending China or pretending they don't have ulterior motives. The Chinese are cruel and unforgiving to their own population, let alone black Americans.

i doubt you have been to China or met enough Chinese to make such broad generalizations but regardless Chinese don't have to like Africans or vice versa to do business with them.. judging striclty from the facts there have been more positives than negatives for Africa in this relationship so i hope it continues and grows.

China is the fastest growing investor in America, between China and the Gulf states they own half of London, in fact the Mayor of London spends half of his bloody time in China begging for investment...

why is it a problem for China to invest in Africa but not in America? .... I dont see America turning down their money but Africa should? ..... fukking hypocrites....

Countries get rich by selling goods and services to other countries...its that fukking simple .... a country will sell whatever another is willing to buy whether it be oil, cars, arms or natural resources... you cant sell that shyt to yourself....


for the record fukk the Chinese, but they are better business partners than the US any day of the week because they dont come with a fukking agenda, telling you how to run your country,how to make your laws, putting conditions on investment.....shyt that the US been doing for years...


maybe Americas time would be best spent wondering how they managed to be in debt to China to the tune of over a Trillion dollars....

maybe Americas time would be best spent focussing on the fact that THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR MAKING CHINA THE POWERHOUSE IT IS TODAY by outsourcing the manufacturing of everything from Nikes to Iphones because they were more interested in maximising profits for the 1% than actually putting money in American workers pockets......

In the next 50 years Africa will have a really large population and many countries will have large middle classes. Structure and stability benefits people investing in Africa. That seems to be China's strategy atleast

yeah cause the Chinese you've met in your city are a good enough barometer to judge them alldo you think an African or any other government would invest in China if it didn't somehow benefit themfor the last time China eating off it's investment in Africa doesn't negate the positive impact they are having across the continent nor is it expected from any reasonable person that they would put so much into those investments without reaping some reward

Im sure the return that they are sucking out the country is triple that. I dont like their "help" at all. I watched a documentary that showed me this "help" is only for their benefit.

If they're just trading natural resources for cheap infrastructure then Africa lost. The only way to independence is via skill training that can then be past down to the next generation, and the one after that.

Natural resources are priceless, and take millions of years to regenerate. Cheap Chinese infrastructure requires constant maintenance, and where is the money coming from for that? Who is paying for the upkeep of roads, and buildings? And how are they paying for it? I don't know how you can be so naive to not realize that the benefits (longterm) China is going to reap from this "investment" far outweighs this measly 60 billion dollars.

I was listening to a podcast about the Chinese in Congo. The Chinese can speak Lingala, live among the Congolese and eat the same food as the Congolese, while workers at the American embassy could only speak French and barely ventured out of their air-conditioned enclosures.

Their only interaction with natives apart from their drivers, cooks and stewards are short planned in advance appointments with the locals.

Yet these same people living in a hermetically sealed bubble are the ones who produce so-called "detailed" reports on the situation in Africa, and you will swallow the BS they produce without blinking.

Workers protested in Nigeria because their German employers set dogs upon them because they had the temerity to request for canteen facilities - (the Germans had no problems providing canteen facilities for themselves). Did the Western media carry that story? No. Why? Because it does not fit into the "Yellow Peril /Evil Chinese" stereotype.

The Chinese are evil, but the West is wonderful. Obama takes a picture with Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo - one of Africa's worst dictators, nobody bothers in the Western Media. Chevron and Shell hire the Nigerian Military / Para-Military forces to murder defenseless villagers, that is brushed under the carpet.

Chevron-Texaco, Exxon-Mobil, Shell, Total and Eni have made the poor people of the Niger Delta endure the equivalent of an Exxon Valdez Oil spill every year for the past 50 years. Does the Western media carry it? No. Why? Because the environmental damage caused by the Chinese in Zambia "is more important".

The Nigerian government has been trying to get the Oil majors to stop gas flaring in the Niger Delta since 1990. They ain't interested and neither is the Western media.

China already has several monopolirs of rare earths that are used to make emodern day electronics, once they secure Africa, theyll have everything they need to create even more monpolies on more rare earths and other resources
