I’m sure the same hypocrites who claim we spend too much on military and defense will be the first ones to lambast our govt and demand some kind of action.
Action how? Did you actually think that mutually assured destruction
wasn't assured at any point? Russia has 10,000 nuclear weapons and a hundred ways to launch them - you really think that we have the technology to protect the entire continent simultaneously?
Not to mention that 95% of military spending has nothing whatsoever with actually preventing attacks on our homeland. If we weren't using up the entire budget with bloated pork, illegal invasions, and the maintenance of military bases all over the world, perhaps we'd have plenty more money for R&D for actual defense.
Yes they’re hypocrites. If someone is the type that thinks we spend too much on defense... but also wants the US to be at the forefront of all technological innovation to better defend us... then yes that would make them hypocrites.
We’re very capable. Nobody is going to use any of these weapons on us and in time we will almost surely find a way to level the playing field.
Russia right now is proving that your claimed perfect relationship between military spending and military technological innovation isn't all it's cracked up to be.
The vast majority of military spending has nothing to do with defending us. You're using the same fearmongering as them to cape for a bunch of bs. Eisenhower warned us about this military-industrial complex 50+ years ago.
i'm just saying it's reasons like this why we can't really afford to penny pinch on defense spending. you never know when other countries are going to maneuver like this.
obviously the govt has been very inefficient in the way they've spent that money, but that's not a surprise to anyone. i was just calling out the anti-military hypocrites we have here in our own country. the same ones that talk shyt and say we need to defund them are the same ones who would beg the govt to do something if we were ever vulnerable to an attack.
Do you even know how defense contracting happens? The whole thing is a shell game to protect the right big businessmen and the right congressional districts. The idea that we can't lower spending at all because "RUSSIA!" is ridiculous.
