Read what I typed again.

You really think no one is reading the contracts?

:mjpls:

You have some way of convincing anyone that they are reading those contracts closely? Chinese behavior when it comes to business isn't exactly a secret. It's been known since the 2000.

No one is reading the contracts on multi billion dollar infrastructure projcets. You nailed it the first time, Bro. Say no more.

:mjlol:

Nah, breh. You got to the crux of the problem. The Chinese are evil masterminds and Africa is powerless to stop them. I concede. :hubie:

Don’t make deals based on your own belly
:yeshrug:

Fixed that for you. These motherfukkers KNOW these are bullshyt deals. But they're trying to line their pockets before shyt hits the fan and the rest of the citizens will be left holding the bag. At some point we have find a way of holding these ppl accountable.

We just got finessed for all our fish by the Chinese :damn:.

But they're doing what they're supposed to do...I bet you couldn't find a Chinese official to sign of a similar deal. Heads would ROLL.

i have to laugh. we were told that the benevolent chinese were gifting these african and caribbean countries these infrastructure projects unlike america who is just looking for customers.

Some were gifts and some were loans.

Don’t despair. It will happen in time. We have to remember most of these countries are less than 60 years old and are now just starting to get a sense of national identity apart from their ethnic ones.

It took Euros 1000 years to recover from the fall of Rome.

Once people have Faith in their institutions and fellow citizens, we will see Africa take off.

Can’t speak for other countries, but Kenya in many ways is a completely different country than it was when I first visited in 1998.

I’m actually headed back to Kenya in the summer to kick it and explore some business ideas. Get in on the ground floor of the growth taking place right now.

Rome wasn't a European Empire. Euros weren't on the map before the 1400's.

This China panic really shows the power of media, even among "educated" Africans.

Oh. Well it looks like China is setting these projects up to fail and in some cases sabotaging them and then stealing African land/infrastructure.

The West would never get away with this in Africa.

Give me current examples on par with this situation. I’ll wait.

Congo Brazzaville and TOtal (France): worse

Niger and Areva (France): Worse

France ousted the previous presidents of these two countries because they wanted to give the exploitation oil (Congo in 1997) and Uranium (Niger 2010) to other companies.

I won't even go in detail about what the IMF and the World Bank were doing in the 80's and the 90's.

The IMF used to give loans to western back dictators. Those dictators will send the money to their bank accounts in the west. The rest of the money will be used in some bogus projects in the country (a new stadium or a factory in the middle of nowhere). Then the IMF will come to ask for the money. The country will be unable to pay, so in order to get another loan or to have the loan erased, the country will enter in structural adjustment programme, which implies the privatization of public companies. These companies will be sold to... western companies. It's the same thing China is doing. The only difference is China is state capitalism, so the infrastructure is being given to the government.

Yup, they’re not comparable situations. The Chinese state is attempting to take a Kenyan port for a 99 year lease in 2018. Stop trying to force it and miss the point.
