About the China Jamaica dealings. Not sure of the exact details but the Jamaican govt. isn't or wasn't going to spend the money to develop the country's infrastructure.

Jamaica is NOT a poor country and they have the labor to develop and build infrastructure but for various reasons did NOT do it.

China offers to do it, leaders jump at the chance.....pocket the money in the budget that was earmarked for public works .

Similar to how Mexican leaders weren't forced to develop their nation's economy because so many illegals were in America sending money to Mexico and supporting the economy.

They didn't do so cause of austerity measures put in place by the IMF not to mention the cripple interest rates on the existing debt. Granted Jamaicans took the deal in the first place but America has always had the largest controlling stake in the IMF.

I think Jamaica neglect of public works goes back decades. Every person I've EVER met from JA, every book I've EVER read about Jamaica mentioned deplorable conditions of the roads...even in the major cities.

I'd have to think that if roads in major streets are in bad shape for decades that this is an indication of how things are maintained(or not) in JA.

I don't have a problem with this investment, as Haiti has been in shambles since the Docs came into power.

The problem I'm seeing is their main selling point being the city hall being built. Better believe they gave up ownership of land, hydro lines and that power plant at least.

Countries can insert a clause in the contracts which restricts the use of Chinese nationals or demands that they train locals. I believe that's what the Ethiopians have done.
Leaders that demand the training of their people as a condition for aid or investment are serious about the development of their countries. Most leaders aren't going to call for that. Which is why the "aid industry" ultimately didn't help the countries they were helping. I'd bet my vital organs that Haitian leaders didn't even entertain adding such a clause.

People act like China is any different.

China don't give a fukk about the locals. They import ALL the labor.

There is a difference between importing labor and sponsoring a coup or assasination .....

once again, we know what the Chinese are about, they arent our friends ... they are only in it for their benefit

but they are better than the USA any day of the week..... and thats not opinion its based on history

no matter what country, race or religion ..... politicians are the same all over the world ..... Im sure whoever was involved in that deal is set for life

its THEM and US .....

when I was younger I used to think a lot of things were down to incompetence .... you get older and you meet one or two politicians and the last thing you would ever call them is incompetent , they know what they are doing....

There are not enough jail cells in the world to lock up all the crooked politicians TRUST ME

Haiti is a unique situation where the people suffer from corruption AND incompetence of the leadership.
Either one is bad enough, but when you get both.......it's terrible.

Here's an example. Remember the story about cholera n Haiti a few years back?

Do a quick google search and find out exactly how the tainted waste got into the waterways in Haiti.

Haitian company contracted by the U.N. to do waste disposal at certain facility. Rather than follow protocol or COMMON sense....that company dumped the waste either too close or upstream or high ground than the river.

Flows into the waterways....people die.

Oh, and the local mayor has ties to the waste disposal company.

People DIE because Haitians in charge, literally the mayor....has people who don't know what the fukk they are doing......in charge of things.

Cats got to remember when it comes to business, you don't have to like the other person you're dealing with in the business deal. So long as a certain level of mutual respect is there, things can get done. Haiti needs the infrastructure badly. And America/Europe aint don't shyt for them, so fukk it why not. I hope the Haitian politicians put in heavy restrictions to make sure their people benefit from this

1st Round Playoff Exits
Haiti needs investments :yeshrug:

If they play their cards right and if the conditions are right, both sides could benefit.
nah breh, this isnt good, how many times do we have to see this same one trick pony......
China will build up their infrastructure, yet hire they own me, giving very little, if anything back to the local, while discriminating against the locals..... And keep them out of benefiting.........
