The US absolutely wastes probably trillions of dollars already - but SS is actual revenue neutral.

Crazy thing is that China is already building rail cars for some of the largest US transit systems. I know in Chicago they got the contract to replace every CTA (the agency that runs the Chicago subway/rail system). They also I believe got a contract in Denver and maybe Boston. They paid off Rahm (at least what people in Chicago say) and ended up building the manufacturing center in the south side of Chicago right by the hood. China is deploying the same strategy they use in Africa/Latin America, right here in the US...SAD!

china subsidizes their companies in order to destroy any competition. an american company can't compete against a competitor who doesn't care if they lose money on a contract. it's just a way for them to entrench themselves in the US. so pathetic to think that a chinese company is manufacturing parts of our transportation infrastructure

where they make the money is down the line when it comes time to repair/replace individual components. right now they're buying political support (for instance in chicago by building the manufacturing plant in a very low income part of town).
