Any of y'all heard about the '996' work schedule in China? Workers for tech firms work 9am-9pm, 6 days a week. Jack Ma, founder of Alibaba apparently has endorsed this take on it. In his words, "I personally think that 996 is a huge blessing," he said. "How do you achieve the success you want without paying extra effort and time?"

He further went on saying: "If you join Alibaba, you should get ready to work 12 hours a day. Otherwise why did you come to Alibaba? We don’t need those who comfortably work eight hours,

Even Elon Musk has been an advocate for grinding out long hours. He said when trying to launch of his Tesla models, he was grinding nearly 120 hours a week. He said no one ever changed the world by working 40 hours. My take on long hours have always been this: There's nothing wrong working 100 hr work weeks, but you have to have direction/equity in the work you're doing. If you plan on getting into Hedge Funding or Private Equity in your career, then you're gonna need to pull those 100 hr work weeks as an investment banker. If you want to start up your own logistics company but want to gain industry knowledge by working for Amazon then so be it. You know you'll be grinding at Amazon to get the skillset to springboard you forward. If you're an entrepreneur then that goes without saying. Some pretty cool articles below.

The greed of the ultra-wealthy is incredible. People all over the world are desperate for jobs, yet the rich are giving a two-person job to just 1 person knowing that they'll burn out in a few years and just be replaced with another person desperate for a job.

Instead of having the whole population gainfully employed in sustainable manner, they want half the population overworked and the other half unemployed just so they can keep wages depressed and make more profit for the billionaires at the top.

This sounds like the video game industry in the 90s and early 2000s. EA being the most infamous of the lot. Nothing good can come from "996". Especially when those people aren't given real equity in the company and treated as disposable.

This. If there's no equity in the company or some sort of performance based bonus then what's the point?

What job could possibly require a 72hr average work week? Not one I’d go to

This is why we need to get the fukk out of all these WTO like trade agreements. We're competing with countries who want to work their people like animals to sell goods and services to the Western world where we have the leisure time to enjoy it. We need to go back to case-by-case tariffs. Don't reward slave labor.
