With respect to cacs getting on baby's case:
This is basically just 'morally righteous' bullying. People who have been bullied will absolutely jump on the chance to go crazy on someone they think 'deserves' poor treatment.
It doesn't matter if they apologize, it doesn't matter if its an action out of character for them so you can tell they didn't mean it, all that matters is that it's a chance to enact 'righteous vengeance' until nothing is left of the person's career. They don't have this much smoke for cacs when they get out of line but for black men they can all put aside their differences and go in on him. Its not bullying or racism, it's 'making him accountable'.
