As for China's politics you should look at this shyt objectively. If Alaska decided they wanted to be on their own all hell would break lose in Amerikkka. The fact of the matter is Hong Kong is part of China, their people are historically Chinese and from the mainland. There's no reason for the league to go in and mendle with their politics.

It was an analogy that's similar because both places involved some sort of financial compensation for territory. Hong Kong was leased from China to the British Empire, both British and Chinese troops liberated Hong Kong during WW2 from Japan. Afterwords mass migration poured into HK from China. People of HK got a taste of capitalism under the British and got corrupted to induce instability into the region.

The problem here is that you accepted an agent of the Chinese government’s disingenuous framing of the issue so now your analogy makes no sense.

The HK protestors are not trying to secede from the mainland, they are trying to keep the freedoms in the 1 nation, 2 systems that they were promised in place.

If the US was taking people who said negative things about Trump and putting them in Guantanamo with no trial or just straight disappearing them then it would be an apt comparison, because that is what the protests are about
