I’d rather my children take over the family business than go work for someone else. I would definitely send my children to school but somebody’s goal has to be to take over the family business. These jobs they went to school to get degrees for cannot be passed down. I’d much rather be working 80 hours a week to build for my family than make money to send my kids to school to make money for someone else. :yeshrug:

And the average African-American doesn't? My grandfather was a sharecropper working on land he didn't own, saved up took buses and trains to NJ, put his savings into a small house, worked at a can factory, raised 6 children, with a 5th grade education. My grandmother scrubbed white people's toilets for 40 years.

Fast forward a few decades they raised an Olympian, a Marine, 2 successful accountants (go figure), My father, a laborer who eventually managed an oil rig, and an operations manager for Bell Atlantic before she retired.

And that story isn't uncommon.

I will say this.

One thing Asian people and Africans to some extent do do differently is that they don't rush their kids out the house. A lot of parents have the idea once their kid graduates high school that their job as caretakers is sort of done.

Some of the hoods here too are just as bad as third world country parts

There’s fukking lead in water and in the walls
Corporations They dump their waste there
Kids being put into special ed

It is almost like black kids that make it out are self selected, like the immigrants that come here.

They use the suffering of one immigrant to say they all go throughout then use the success of one black person and say we all have it easy

My dad dumped his 401k and still worked 13+ hours a day to make it happen

many of these people were doing good in their home countries and they have a network already set up in the U.S. and they tap into "minority" benefits that should have only been for black americans. Please stop feeding people the myth of people somehow coming from a village halfway around the world to being a business owner in the US. Just from working and saving, there are cacs in America that can't even just work and save. They love selling that image of immigrant coming from the mud because it always makes them look "exceptional" when the reality is they were doing great in their home countries and they weren't living in some village somewhere. I can't believe people really believe this stuff. I remember in college all these immigrants of all races coming over here fresh off the plane with BMWs and shyt with no job in the freshmen dorms.

Both realities exist.

Some people absolutely did come from money.
Some people absolutely did come from nothing, trust me i know plenty.

Its disingenuous to say either is a myth.

Even among those of us that came over, there is a certain classism that exists. There are those who came from wealth and connections who were granted permanent residence and who had connections with the ambassador.

And there were also those who came over via green card/visa lottery. My parents are classist against the lottery people, but if you compare the children of those people to the children of the higher class... they are the same here in America. All that Nigerian wealth and connections dont amount to shyt here, everybody driving the same taxis and cleaning the same gas station restrooms :yeshrug:

this is a major fact that everyone overlooks

black people wont even allow their kids to stay home past 18, meanwhile soo yung has saved enough to buy a house staying with her family until 30

Dumbest shyt in the world,,,, its like some real life watchmen cyclops white supremacy brainwashing type shyt.......... notice we are the only group of people that apply that rule:mjpls:,,,, and that brainwashing is working nicely.:francis:

Uhhhh no you’re making it seem as if parents kicking their kids out at 18 is a good thing you fukking dikkhead :mjlol:

You wanna make sure your kids become something? Nurture them! Only a fool would think you gotta kick your kids out early because your parents did the same to you :stopitslime:
You ensure your children’s success by being a benevolent influence on their life. Do you know how much of a life saver staying at home while getting a degree can be? :wow: I’ve seen Asian ppl (my ex and her family) FINESSE thru a tight knit family structure....I’m sure others would agree that black families can be very lacking in that department, and not keeping everyone together until they are truly ready to flourish on their own is a big reason why.

no it's not disingenuous. when an immigrant really does come from "extreme conditions" you can tell because you'll see them at our jobs and shyt, still struggling along side us. Like these mexicans, struggling. Some of these carribean blacks like haitians be out here working jobs right next to us, struggling. And many of these people don't just "work hard and save" and end up business owners, they end up lifelong employees like most black people. I'm just smart enough to see what really goes on. muhfukkas fresh off the boat driving luxury cars, but telling us they came from a "village" somewhere and just saved and ended up owning a business and a house in some high COL place.

yall can believe what yall want. :heh:

I think cultural differences get undermined in these discussions
People always talk about black parents kicking kids out ignoring the fact black american youth are way more independent and don't prioritize their parents opinion as much as Asian or Africans. Asians be 30 yrs old stressing over what their parents want. If a black parent doesn't like their daughter boyfriend the daughter is moving out and living with the bf :yeshrug:
Black kids could live at home too if they were willing to be treated like shyt while giving up their whole paycheck like these 1st Gen kids. It's just a different mindset.

Im saying both realities exists.

Are you stating that a poor immigrant has never came to America? Have you been outside of America and seen these living conditions you speak of?

If your point is that some people are full of shyt, then i agree... some are. But not all.

You gotta hear some peoples stories... it aint all roses and shyt

How much did integration play into this? America is more on a health craze right now and Chinese is loaded with nonsense.

i addressed that. A poor immigrant coming to america will most likely be poor here and will be out here strugglin just like black americans. Clear example being mexicans. For all the stereotypes about them being hardworkers, they still be out here deep in the working class.

There are americans with all kinds of privileges and "the right skin tone" that can't even pull off this shyt yall claim these 3rd world immigrants are doing. It's not even realistic. Yall know that. That's why i said many of them already have money in their home countries, and they get help here. They just like selling yall this image of coming from a village and just "working hard" and thriving in america. LOL

More immigrants tend to be self-employed due to cultural barriers as well. Meaning due to language or cultural barriers it won't be as easy for some of them to get jobs in "mainstream" or corporate America (especially back in the day). Opening businesses and working in the ethnic neighborhoods they moved to is a more likely path to success.

Meanwhile black folks were sold the idea that our path to success would be through college degrees and high paying corporate jobs.

Yes of course a poor immigrant would be poor here. And, this may surprise you, but a well-to-do immigrant would be poor here as well. But im not talking about those people, im talking about their children.

Plenty of poor immigrants have children who become doctors, lawyers, etc. And many poor immigrants have children who are just as poor as they are if not moreso.

There is no myth... im not sure why you are so convinved that there is, but there is not. Its simply selection bias.

You arent hearing about the hundreds thousands of immigrant families that come to America and fail spectacularly. You are only hearing of the ones who come here and do well. So maybe its a skewed comparison.

I can speak for.myself and my family. We had money in Nigeria. Came to America and had to start over. 4 kids turnes to 6, both my parents worked a combined 5 jobs, i was raised by neighbors and a cousin who wasnt old enough to drive.

All that naija wealth didnt mean shyt here. Even the edcation, both my parents had to redo their bachelors and masters here. When my dad was getting his JD, he wasnt even living with us, he was living at school.

For every story like mine, there are 100 that ended up in failure.

Most immigrants fail breh... most fail really fukking badly
