Seems like a major stretch. He's lived his life and now he wants to make a life for his kids and start a business/make a brand for them. Is he overconfident in himself and his kids? Yes. This. There are a lot of dads just like Lavar. Usually their kids aren't anywhere as good as they think and they want to fight the coach for not playing their son. When the kid really is good, they start buying their own bullshyt.

A guy I played baseball with had a dad like that. The other parents would small talk and ask him what his son was going to be when he grew up and he always answered "major league baseball player" and he would act confused when people laughed. I felt bad because his son wasn't even cocky like that. He only grew to be like 5'5" and played sparingly in high school so his dads dreams were crushed.
