This thread is so interesting to me, on some anthropologist shyt. How often are y'all eating fast food, generally? For which meals?

It sometimes surprises me how, in the rest of the country, Mexican is the default latin cuisine. I get why, it's just weird to me as a ny'er.

Chipotle cost the same as McDonald's. I've been cutting back my spending on eating out since all these places have increased their prices 20%. Why waste my money? I can easily cook my own food.

Chipotle is expensive. I was going there twice a week at one point for a burrito bowl. They raised prices last May to $11 for a bowl and I haven't been back since.

Price went from $7 to $9 in the last year for a basic chicken bowl.

I always preferred Hot Head burrito, because their sauce is >>>>>> and the rest of the food is the same. Plus they never had any virus outbreaks.
People just go to chipotle because it's trendy on some starbucks shyt. In my part of town, there is literally a hothead right across the street from chipoltle, Chipoltle will have line going outside the building, meanwhile i can walk right up the counter at hot head and get the same shyt.

No in new york. Most mexican places are fukking terrible. Chipotle is at least consistently solid.

And if you drive just 20 minutes out the city to New Rochelle they are the main Hispanic group and have a lot of authentic restaurants up there.

And if you drive just 20 minutes out the city to New Rochelle they are the main Hispanic group and have a lot of authentic restaurants up there.

I personally hate authentic Mexican. Lived in mexico for a few years, expected to have the most awesome mexican of my life. Turns out that shyt isn't really that good imo. I like flour tortillas, i like crunchy corn ones, they usually do the worst of both worlds and serve tacos in this soggy soft corn tortilla shell.
Cheese apparently is an american thing, because they not putting any in any of the food unless it has the word queso in the name.
Meats that they use are always overcooked and held in a hotpan buffet style, so it is essentially shredded meat mush by the time it's put on your order.
Sauces taste great but are always watery never creamy. hated eating soggy tacos.
The salsa is >>>>>>>>>> though a lil spicy but every restaurant basically gives unlimited chips and salsa for free.

Im in brooklyn. Im never driving that far for a restaurant. Theres one Mexican truck on cortelyou thats good but most are shyt quality and a lot are bland. Most mexicans arent making good mexican food. I always feel like NYC gets the worst because the better mexicans settle closer to the border and dont need to travel farther. It's also why NYC has rougher looking mexicans than the west coast.


A good restaurant like Calexico is still expensive and probably white owned

Mexican food is overrated to me.

I find their meat under seasoned a lot of times.
