i came in just to see the fukkery in the thread and laugh, and saw the discussion about going for 2 to be up 9. only thing i would mind about it is you are letting the other team know way in advance that they will either need 1 or 2 scores. with the bears big wr targets, and depleted d i wouldnt have minded going for 2 there at all to go up 9 that late in the game

scoring a TD+2pt conversion is just much harder. especially since 49ers offense looked like shyt. if it was against a prolific, great offense that can execute well, this would have more of a point

you need to score a td either way. id give the bears a better than 50/50 shot at getting the deuce. id love to see some data on going up 9, because ive thought teams should have done it in the past to slam the door on games. if the niners offense looked like shyt, go up 2 scores and end the game. the "shytty" offense still has to go get a td regardless if you get the 2 point conversion to go up 9 or not. the main disadvantage would be letting the team know they need 2 scores in advance

2pt conversion is much harder to make, on both sides, than you seem to assume, imo.
especially for a team like niners who like to milk every down on offense. one try for a TD is bad predicament for this offense.

believe it or not, I think making a successful 2-pt conversion might be harder for this team than putting together a long drive for a TD

it makes no sense to do it there, especially since your defense smelled blood and the opposing team hasnt done shyt last two quarters

if the niners like to milk every down on offense, go up 9 and force their shaky qb's hand to play quicker. i certainly wouldnt advocate doing it every time to go up 9, most of the time id prefer 8. but this situation i wouldnt have minded them making the call
