It's probably going to be a solid movie but there's nothing Chicago about this. I watch "8 Mile" & can FEEL what it's like in Detroit. Content doesn't matter... there's nothing Chicago about this movie & I wouldn't expect an outsider to understand. This trailer doesn't look or FEEL like Chicago at all.

Had this been named anything else nobody would care... Spike exploited the city... plain & simple.

Just saw the trailer yesterday and the thing that stood out to me most was how this gonna be Chicago when nobody got dreads

Can't wait, Spike is a cinematic genius. Also this isn't the first time Spike has touched on black violence in a major city:

"Chiraq" is basically coming out on the 20th anniversary of "Clockers" a film that deals with "Hood" Violence in the streets of Brooklyn. I think Satire is perfectly fine because jewels will be dropped all throughout. "Baboozled" bodied Hollywood historical racism problems and it was full satire. Also I love how Spike continues to make films that are unapologically Black. He's getting an Honorary Oscar this year and he has constantly sh!tted on the Academy for being racist. I can't wait for this movie, really good cast as well.

This ain't gonna be shyt like "Clockers" which is my problem. I'm from NY but I feel Spike is fukked up for this. He should've shown Chicago the same respect he showed our city with Clockers. Just cause people don't want no damn satire movie don't mean nikkas want "another Menace 2 Society" like people tryna say in this thread. People need something. Smart. Witty. Deep. Serious. Creative and informative. That reflects the city the movie is based off of. And for the cats saying "this ain't technically about Chicago. Ain't no such thing as Chiraq anyway". Gimme a fukkin break. Dude used the name based off of what people call Chicago now and the popularity the word has. That's even more offensive. This movie didn't even have to be titled what it is. But he did it cause it's a buzzword to generate more interests. It's bullshyt. I WISH this was like Clockers.

First I never said it was "Clockers" only highlighting that Spike has touched on this subject before. Next how do you know it won't be "Smart, Witty, Deep Creative and Informative"? Spike track record proves more than likely it will be. Obviously the title is meant to get people talking. Lastly there are people that do want the same cookie cutter "Shoot em up, bang, bang" hood movie and Spike is more talented than that. If the trailer didn't do it for some people that's cool but nobody has seen the movie yet to be making claims about what it will be. As for the "It shouldn't be satire" why? That's Spike choice. People will get on Spike for "Satire" but will praise Tarantino for a cartoon Slave Western. Spike's track record is why I trust him on this subject.

Son it ain't even just about being satire. The movie looks NOTHING like where it supposed to take place. shyt "Candyman" captured Chicago better than this shyt and that's a horror film. Just off the fact that the movie is called "Chiraq" and it doesn't look or feel at all authentic to the city is enough for me to call bullshyt. I find it funny how the only people who don't find offense and are being insensitive to this fact are out of towners. And that right there should show u who the movie is marketed towards and made for. People who ain't from Chicago. The nikka exploited the city for what's goin on right now. And used the buzzword Chiraq to tell his own story basically.

Spike never shows his hand in the trailers I trust him on this his track record when people overreact to one of his movies before it comes out.
