Damn.. these artists must really not be making shyt.

Chris brown hosts his own shows too, whereas a lot of artists have to perform at other venues with other artists like Made in America etc.

But at the same time it's only a small percentage of athletes that get max contracts, shoe deals, endorsements etc.

You really can't compare rappers against singers in this regard especially since most rappers come in the game with their own money that they use to invest in themselves and they usually write all of their own music so they have more leverage and can structure their contracts better

Bruno and Weeknd are POP artists right now. Bruno is DOPE, but he drops once every 4-5yrs,while Chris brown has put out literally 100 songs in that time frame.

Chris Brown is in the category of R. Kelly and Trey Songz. There's a sect of white ppl who live them, but it's mostly urban fans

Chris trajectory was supposed to be the next big pop star after usher.

Chris killed his crossover appeal the day the rihanna incident happened.

He doesn't get the endorsement deals that he used & doesn't get the promo like he used to.

His albums were selling more before the incident as well.

I actually think what killed CB's mainstream appeal for good was CB acting a fool & constant controversies after the F.A.M.E. album era. Because if you go look back at all the promo he did during the F.A.M.E. album era it looks like he was welcomed back into the mainstream. But by the next album, "Fortune", CB wasn't getting the same type of promotion anymore.

Too much fukkery indeed. Don't forget the Karreuche incident. I also think his music got too "adult"-ish too quickly. as well. It was kind of a stark contrast to his more subtle themes in in his earlier albums. He should have been more gradual. Even I was stunned at the uptick on profanity in his songs as a kid - I wasn't used to it from him.

Yo, remember back in 2014 during the "X" album era, CB was supposed to have a big duet pop single with Arianna Grande? They shot a music video & everything. But because of CB's fuccery the single never dropped. The song ended up making CB's album, but didn't make it on Arianna's album, & her vocals were replaced. The music video eventually leaked online.

:snoop: A major blown opportunity for Chris.

@jadillac Is talking about fanbase, not quality of music.

Some of his biggest songs were right after the incident.
He sat down for like a year and came back scorching
In My Zone to Fan of A Fan to Deuces to FAME and Look at Me Now to Loyal… list goes on.
And the record biz was in shambles between 09-12, so of course sales were less. That was for everybody

Boom see, right there.

The Weeknd has had two singles with Ariana Grande. He ate off them shyts. Love Me Harder was a top 10 hit, top 40 everywhere in the world. Save Your Tears remix featuring Ariana went number 1 on the Hot 100.

Breezy fukked up. He's doing well for himself, but he's rarely gonna get that big, mainstream, pop promotion and push.

does Chris write any of those thot anthems?
I wonder what he made in 2019? That's when 'No Guidance' with Drake went crazy
I figured out that most of the songs don't make you retirement money unless its #1 on the POP charts and get radio play on the pop stations
When Robin and Pharell got sued by Marvin Gaye, court documents showed that they each made about $7M on 'Blurred Lines' and that played everywhere and was #1 or top 5 for over a year
The label gets it all first. That song probably generated at least $15M.
Its really not for a household name celebrity still at the tail-end of their prime.

Its actually an embarrassingly low amount of money. :francis:
No it isn't.

No Guidance ?
That and Go Crazy have reached that status, yes. So it seems like he's getting back to that level. But there was a moment from like 2012 to like 2018 where it felt like he was always just barred from that level.

And even then, No Guidance had that Drake stimulus. And it still feels like he's shut off. Does he headline shyt other music stars? Get spots on TV shows? Award shows? It ain't the same

Convert $350,000 per year to

2 days for Chris Brown is 34,616

If you make 3,461.6 a year, you will make as much as Chris Brown in 10 years as he does in 2 days. So, if you are in a poor African country, he could be right. The average income in Nigeria is 1,332 a year.

It doesn't really matter because he couldn't capitalize on the way that he could if he didn't do what he did.

Let's be real chris sales being down definitely has more to do with public image issues than the actual fluctuation of the music industry.
