This is a wild stat. Never realize there were that few Black governors. Also surprising it would be those two states (tho I knew Deval of course)

Yeah, the Boston metro area and by extension the state of Mass. has one of the worst reputations of the Northern states when it comes to racism. Never lived there to know how much of that is perception vs reality compared to other states. But the first elected Black U.S. Senator and the second elected Black Governor in the country were in Massachusetts.

Pine Bluff/Little Rock/Conway is considered central Arkansas. That's where you would find the black population. Outside of those areas, it's all rural white.

I'm in Arkansas. We do have an ados mayor in Little Rock but outside of Little Rock, Arkansas is white as fukk. Northwest AR is the klan capital. It will be interesting watching the science and faith parallel and see how it actually plays out in politics. It's going to be an uphill battle for the brother but white evangelicals will once again be forced to face the truth that their version of Christianity is based on the preservation of white privilege,

My point is Arkansas is 80% white. Outside of central Arkansas the total black population is like 3%. We're sprinkled about in smaller towns but it's still a very small percentage of the total population.

I’m going to have a bit of hope he can pull it off. Since the state has elected Dems as governor before( similar to Louisiana), the votes are there. It’s just a matter of max Dem turnout and not exciting the conservative hornets nest of white people.
