I was just playing devil's advocate but I didn't realize when this thread was started and that the overall Pat-Peyton argument has been hashed out.I understand why people would say that on its face, but that's surface level analysis, other than Mahomes plays better in the playoffs, that matters. Mahomes isn't without his own playoff blemishes in his young career, so that dilutes it some but he is more consistent than Manning ever was...
For me, Manning owned the position in a way that isn't comparable. Manning came into the worst team in football while Mahomes walked in on one of the best; hell, even Brady didn't take over a perennial winner when he started...
I think when you add the context of their early career situations it has to pull Mahomes back some, if a number of All-Time quarterbacks were afforded their era's equivalent of being drafted to the mid-10s Chiefs, could've been some greater domination early...
Mahomes is relatively close but a third championship doesn't yet leapfrog Manning, I really think people forget that Manning won 4 MVPs in a 7-year stretch, it's hard to explain how dominant this guy was at his peak. And to be fair, it's also hard to explain how he so consistently fell off in the playoffs...
In that 7-year stretch, if we compare it Pat's current 7-year career, Manning was better by every metric besides playoff success. Better win percentage (.795 to Mahomes' .771). They are tied in division titles (6); the '08 Colts won 12 games and didn't win the division because my Pretender '08 Titans were fraud in all regular season. Manning was more decorated in terms of accumulated trophies, All-Pros and such, and his stats in that era were blowing away the competition, Mahomes stats aren't blowing out the competition...
There was more of a gap between Manning and who was next, compared to Mahomes and the next closest guys to him. Brady was closing the gap the end of the 00s but he missed a full year in that stretch too. The gap between Mahomes and Allen/Lamar/Burrow isn't nearly as wide...
Mahomes is 13-3 in the playoffs (.813) vs Peak Manning's 9-6 (.600); Mahomes 3-2 in the AFCCG vs Manning's 2-1 record...
It's frustrating, it's not like Manning played 60 years ago, and yet people forget how dominant he was. '13 Manning was '16 Steph, that shyt is probably the greatest quarterback season ever. Manning has another couple years that are GOAT quarterback seasons. I doubt Mahomes will peak as high as Manning did, so I think the key to him surpassing Manning will be maintaining this high rate of play for years to come, and if he doubles Manning in ring count, look that may be enough, given he's already proven to be more reliable in the playoffs...
It's gonna take more than one ring though, given the fact he hasn't peaked as highly as Manning did. I do wanna say though, leapfrogging Manning is probably an inevitability, I just think he's currently at least a few years off...
It’s all the same.I hate to speak for other people, but Giants fans couldn't give a fukk less about the Patriots. We hate Boston doe![]()
chiefs d is strongThis game against the Ravens is a legacy game for Mahomes. If he can get them past this game and onto a back to back championship his Goat candidacy will look a lot stronger. Everything isn’t in their favor for this run…had to finally go on the road and with a defense weak to the run with Lamar at the peak of his powers…he‘ll shut a lot of his haters up if he wins this game.
No100%.
Imagine saying Bron was the best after winning 2 rings.
In terms of raw talent, guys like Vick/Cunningham etc., were more physically gifted. Mahomes is like Aaron Rodgers but more clutch like Brady. Decent mobility and can make every throw at an elite level.
Mahomes is on the path but it's too early to be putting him into THAT conversation.
Only hoe ass dudes have jealousy in their heart..and please, that team was going.nowhere pre Brady. Having a Pro Bowl QB who could succeed with minimal weapons, surely doesnt help, right?? Have you ever heard the 2000 Ravens speak bad about Trent Dilfer? What about the 74 Steelers talking negatively about Terry Bradshaw? Rodney Harrison was emotional thinking they blew the SB and Ty Law said "We're gonna win, you know why?, because have Tom Brady." Willie Mac and Brady are super close..he introduced him to his trainer Alex Guerrero. Seymour, Bruschi, Harrison, Law etc have always sung Bradys praises as does Asante Samuel. But apparently they all are or should be resentful if him. Bruschi said in the postgame of SB38, "That with 12 back there, you just know."Seeing stuff like this
I always wonder if Willie mcginest,Richard Seymour Teddy brushing, ty law and them feel some kind of way about it
Cos those first few superbowls they didn't win because of Tom

Nah not like that but to give all props to only Tom is bullshytI mean it's not like Brady was Trent Dilfer status LOL
And mf’s was doing it while the Montana fans were saying 4-0 in super bowls. Brady Brigade was dismissing them shyts. You can't be the GOAT after 7 years.
Even for Brady, that'd be claiming him the GOAT after the 2007 season.

A nikka with two SBs, MVPs and GOAT numbers has a legacy game in year six as a starter? This game against the Ravens is a legacy game for Mahomes. I ain’t crowning shyt. I’ll say what I said in a separate thread: give me Pat in year six as a starter over Tom as a starter in year six. The stats say so. He’s only behind him by one SB (team achievement) at this same point. Tom wears the crown but folks clearing out their bookmarks from Twitter and writing capstones in hereMost people ain't start talking that Brady GOAT shyt till ring #4 and beyond.
Ya'll crowning Pat too early cuz his game is undeniable, pretty and he's in an incredible situation.
