Honestly if you look at the landscape of the Western conference, you could make the argument that they could make another run next year with some added depth:ld:

The Clippers and Nuggets won't be a major threat to them because of injuries and the fact that Kawhi won't be back next season and Murray will need time to get back up and running.

Utah is looking to offload Ingles or Bojan Bogdanović because of tax issues, so they will lose some strength.

You really trusting GS and Klay with him not having played in two years to make a championship run again?

The only major roadblock would be the Lakers and AD's injury history makes it no guarantee that he will even make it through the season unscathed and in one piece.

Champions league
They only got to the Finals because every team they played was hurt.

And the minute the bucks got back to full strength, they dropped 4 straight games to them and CP3 disappeared

Also, they were up 2-zip on the clippers. Then CP3 comes back and the clips tie the series up.

suns were undefeated in the bubble the year before it's not like they were chop liver

Probably unpopular on here but it's no way in hell i'm giving CP3 that money only for the West to be healthy going forward and the suns to get eliminated in the 1st or 2nd round the duration of the contract
shyt even tho they made the finals CP3 still looked drained in the second half of the series and basically choked again. Suns are good enough without him to be 1st round fodder as is, it's limited upside hoping for another miracle. especially since the first miracle fell short anyway

If Kyle Lowry is asking and looking for 100mil/3yr, then Chris Paul’s bytchass has every right to ask for the same, if not more

That being said, I wouldn’t want to pay him that kind of bread if I’m Phoenix. You’re essentially capped at max Booker, max Ayton, overpaid CP3, and maybe one other guy you’re overpaying to try and give that extra push

All this young depth with Cameron Johnson and Mikal Bridges with Crowder on a MLE and Payne on a 360 deal is out the window once you pay CP3 and give Ayton his extension
Cp3 maybe can get that. Lowry is out of his goddamn mind seeking that.

Ultimately it comes down to Ayton taking the leap offensively and becoming a go-to scorer/dominate two-way player.

Gotta become more Embiid/AD in the post, and less “Clint Capela with touch”.

If he can’t be that, then they ain’t closing the gap between them and the healthy versions of the West’s best...

...not without bringing another max level player to be *that* guy, which isn’t really CP3’s comfort zone.

Paul is an expensive luxury that doesn’t fit the need of a star co-scorer next to Booker

As great as CP is...never going to happen with him and booker dominating the ball as much as they do. Ayton is not going to get enough isolated touches playing with them to be more than a roll man or a pick and pop shooter

No. Chris Paul at 36 pretty much gave you the last very good/elite year he had left. Chris Paul as made over 300 million dollars as a player up to this point. He should either take the 45 million dollar option OR take a 1 year max and go from there. But no he isn't worth anywhere near a 100 million dollar contract especially when the next couple of drafts are going to be flush with talent at the guard positions.

He can't leave any potential bread on the table with him being over the NBPA. People keep overlooking that major aspect when discussing him leaving money on the table.

Oh I get it. Gotta get as much money as you can, but sometimes getting money and being on a contender are at odds and I while I think the Suns will make a short term I can't see them letting any of their young core players walk to keep him.
