Is this really an upgrade for him though? Seems more like a lateral move.

:stopitslime: Then you must not be aware of much cfb, or the huge funding differences between pac 12 and MWC

Massive upgrades in facilities, talent, and boosters

If this dude was ever going to move, the time is now. He needs to continue with his talent development skills; its gon be hard for him to out recruit all the westcoast schools

I don't know what the facilities are at Boise (they've been getting BCS money :ld:), but I'll assume UW has better facilities. Boosters will be better at UW, agreed. Talent? Does the range in talent really differ between Boise State and Washington? He was getting 3-4 star recruits with the occasional 5-star at Boise. How will that be any different at Washington? Kids on the west coast are going to USC, UCLA, Oregon and Cal regardless.

It's really a lateral move. UW isn't any more attractive than Boise other than location.

Pinkel and Peterson? they had a pretty sick list, UW won USC lost
I think putting Pinkel out there was more flashing lights. Pinkel 61, he's never leaving Columbia (I'd question his decision making skills based off that one fact cause if you've ever been thru or to Columbia, you'd know why)

When did Boise ever get a 4 star recruit or above?:mindblown:

Just stop:snoop: Dude about tripled his salary at least

In Petersen, the Huskies land a guy with a reputation of succeeding with unheralded recruits at Boise State. He has experience recruiting on the West Coast, as well, having served on the coaching staffs of UC Davis and Oregon earlier in his career. Washington has the resources and facilities, including a newly renovated Husky Stadium, to give Petersen the recruiting tools he likely didn’t have at Boise State. That’s a good recipe for the Huskies.

Boise State coach Chris Petersen is expected to be named head coach of the Washington Huskies on Friday, sources have told ESPN.

Petersen will be one of the highest paid coaches in the Pac-12 with the deal, according to a source.

Petersen, who has turned down other job offers, is ready for a new challenge, the source said.

Kyle Wilson is the only 4* i can think of that went to Boise, its still Idaho no matter how good the program got

Cal is really down right now, and Oregon while still very successful has never been a recruiting machine. they will keep kids in state and pluck some sleepers from Cali, but outside of DAT/Cliff Harris and a select few they havent really built that program on big name recruits. Peterson can sell history (Don James era was excellent) and immediate PT in a nice area. he should do well

He could've left for a better program years ago. This dude lost
no he didn't. this guy is wired differently. he's not built for texas, florida, usc spotlight. i remember reading how even boise media would get to him sometimes. washington is a good spot for him. best job in the pacific northwest, he'll have them in the bcs soon imo.

Yeah.

Sarkisian did 4 years of dirty work, recruiting Washington full of the talent that they needed. Now Petersen gets to step in and deal with pushing them from 8-4 seasons to 10-2 seasons. The Pac 12 is rising on par with the SEC in coaching quality

Goatganda the pearl of Africa
He's quiet and doesn't like the spotlight .

Anyways he will do wonders, teams rarely win at husky stadium, and he's always been a goodroad ccoach.
Heremy childs was the only 4 star recruit at Boise.

Kyle Wilson 2 stars
Nat Potter 2 stars
Iloka 2 stars
Moore 3 stars
She McClellan 2 stars
Austin Pettis 3 stars
Titus young 3 stars

To be fair, most people arent trying to start over at a new spot, uproot their family at 61 years old. You are comfortable at that point, not trying to start from the bottom. He has built equity there in crappy Columbia, Missouri. Plus, he is already in the SEC. Why would you leave that?

Peterson is much younger, and is moving up to a BCS conference. Bigger scope, etc. Both Pinkel and Peterson made the right moves.
