That was 20 years ago. Kids drink cough syrup for fun now.

That's true, but those kids aren't the only fans of hip hop music and culture

Hip Hop is 40 years old now

There are hip hop fans from 5 - 65 years old

and there are definitely a lot of people that still appreciate lyricism

they just don't post on internet message boards

I think his ceiling is a Joell Ortiz type of career. I haven't heard that much of his material but from what I've heard he doesn't have the personality his pops had and that was a big part of the reason he was so successful

Like Schoolboy Q said, just cuz you rap in double time doesn't make you the nicest. Yeah he's got skills and technical prowess but that kind of stuff doesn't make a great MC great

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
Pun had somethin this kid lacks. FLAVOR. Pun wouldve never attacked this beat in the manner his son just did. Pun would've had bars. But he would've also tho threw some wittiness and prolly some comedic traits in there as well. He would've flowed better too. And this is before I get into the songmaking part.

Fans these days are so fickle...... Pun also had 3-4 years in the game before he dropped his debut.

This is pretty much Chris's first real stage, let the man spit.

Had this came out in the late 90's or early/mid 2000's, people would be screaming next up.

The guy can rap, flat out. The rest can/will come.

Yeah, me too breh.

I'm a '78 baby, so I've lived through all eras of hip hop,

and remember vividly a time where hip hop discussions tended to revolve around skill,

not what formula an emcee had to follow in order to make a classic album,

what song they should release for their first single,

or if their subject matter was diversified enough to sell units.

People don't care about hip-hop as an art form. They only see it as a marketable good. :yeshrug:

For all those who say "nah his father could do this, he can't"

We never really heard Big Moon Dog from Full a clips. He was Big Pun when we heard him. If Joe didn't scoop him up he might sound more like his son does.

As a huge pun fans I have to say dude sucks

Hasn't evolved at all and it gets so bad in every freestyle/ song I heard he even rhymes the same words as his pop. The complete opposite of original
