It's deeper than that, my dawg...
- Black directors and producers need money to make these films. It takes an assload of money to shoot a movie.
If they don't have a lot of money, their only gonna be able to make straight-to-video movies. Those don't be gettin' love.
- I'm legit trying to think of "other Black awards" besides the BET Awards (which you could argue as to their "blackness" anyway)
and ABFF awards...
- I can only imagine what would happen if Michael B. Jordan won such an award and they show him sitting next to a white woman. lol
It doesn't take a assload of money to shoot a movie or even shoot a movie well. These hollywood studios launder money for drug dealers and criminals, they have to inflate the cost of production to hide the money. The cost of filming if anything has drastically dropped compared to 10 years ago.
Hell Tyler Perry got 40 mil to create his own studio, soundstage, and etc. Thats only 40 mil, which is nothing in the film world.
The fact is people want white acceptance. They need white validation and you have the situation where instead of building their own film communities they rush and scramble and do everything they can to get into the white industry. Its sad but what can you do.
