why else would he name Jay? can't be because of skill.

Maybe if the movie was called Top twenty five then Jay would have a spot.

His reasoning for naming Jay has always been the hits and the skill. Whether you agree with that or not, that's between you and Rock

I don't see his list as blasphemous though, I mean it's subjective. If Pac isn't on it, :whoknows:

I'll keep it brief, but Jamison was 20 & 9 the same season he was traded to Cleveland. Mo Williams was a good enough player. Also, Boris and Kawhi were guarding Lebron for numerous times, 1-on-1. Closing the gap on a drive, isn't the same as a double team. Also, Gasol was 18 & 8 in Memphis and never had a playoff win. Lebron and role players vs Wade and role players is not an even matchup? As for teams of past, Pippen was NEVER the 2nd best player on the floor, and the same can be said for other's supporting cast.

Now for Top 5...I think every list is going to include Jay, simply because of who he is now. But by that same grading scale, they could also include Cube & LL, 50, Queen Latifah...If anything, I find it amazing that most are starting to include Brad in their Top 10...over Pac? I'd say yes The one thing about Pac is that a lot of people believe that most of his catalog is revolutionary or uplifting. That's not the case at all. as an elite MC, that is debatable. G Rap gets more love by his peers than he does in the media, and out of the class of '88, he's the one that brings it every time.
Jamison was 20/9 on a terrible Wizards team where he was a first option dude is a terrible defensive player. LeBron wanted Amar'e Stoudemire. Mo Williams was solid, he was a great shooter, couldn't defend though and look at how the man produced in the playoffs barely shooting 40%. Yes, LeBron was being guarded one-on-one it doesn't mean the strong side of the floor wasn't being loaded, it doesn't mean strong pseudo zones weren't used and the gap wasn't being closed aggressively. That Spurs team was first in the playoffs in defensive efficiency. Pau Gasol had poor teams in Memphis/Vancouver at least he qualified for the playoffs four times in the WEST. He averaged 20+ a few times in Memphis, he had a player efficiency rating of 24 in one season, he was one of best post big men in the league, he was a great post passer, he was a good defender, he was efficient, he was great in the 2010 Finals.

Wade was struggling in Miami after Shaq's departure, the Heat of 07 and 08 were bad and Wade struggled with injuries. In '09 he played at an MVP level and the Heat only managed to win 43 games and lose in the First Round. LeBron's problem wasn't Wade and role players, it was a Boston team with 3 HoFers, plus one of the best PG's in the league, with great role players and great coaching. It was a Orlando team with Dwight Howard, and amazing shooters and team defense. Pippen was a 22/8/6 player in his prime, he was an MVP runner-up in the season Jordan retired, he led the Bulls to 55 wins without Jordan and Jordan's replacement was Pete Myers, Pippen was the best perimeter defender in the league, Pippen is a HoFer who did LeBron have like that? Look at Cleveland after LeBron left, basically the same supporting cast minus LeBron was a lottery team. I wanna see where a superstar player thoroughly dominated his competition like LeBron in '09 yet still loses.

no...its more about Rock being from NYC...and all those old NYC heads are still bitter at the Death Row run

at the end of the day, pac & big & all them are really only seen as locks to the early 30s & under crowd. their top 5 status is up-in-the-air with the older heads, depending on who you ask. and to take it further, those scenes are done with the 40-something crowd. now if they had THEIR oldheads in the room, you'd hear more grandmaster caz/melle mel/kurtis blow/kool moe dee before you even hear names like rakim & krs come up. and they tend to favor a dude like ll cool j over rakim/krs/kane/etc when it comes to those years. generally speaking.

as for the bias; in alot of cases? sure. when i see modern new york names like big or jay but no pac, then yea, it does indeed give off that feeling of east coast bias. i def get that feeling from some of these dudes myself. but im used to hearing no more than one '90s name crack these oldheads' top 5 anyway.

and hey, nobody is really wrong. the bar was raised high thru all those eras.

aside from the dude who still thinks lebron is a first tier great (Iolsmh), people in here are pretty damn confused........if one list didn't include pac, fine, that shiit gets a pass. but to have an entire movie blatantly shiit on the west coast the way this movie did is unacceptable. it's not just pac, NO west coast rappers were named...and when ice-t WAS named, it was only so they could laugh it off. smfh.

then pac finally gets mentioned, but only as a co-star in a tyler perry movie....come on, fellas.

jay-z being the exec producer and questlove being the musical coordinator pretty much explained it tho.
