There’s definitely more black people on the spectrum than what’s being reported. We simply don’t get diagnosed early or at all because of racism within healthcare and being written off as “having behavioral problems” among other negative bias and instead of getting help, we are unfairly disciplined and in some cases, put on medication.

The same goes for ADHD, Bipolar and other neurodivergent conditions.

Yes this is 1000% accurate. I've learned over the years how to see signs of people on the spectrum and people with anxiety issues among other mental health ailments. The other thing is there are ALOT of black WOMEN living with Aspergers. Like I've seen it so often over the years and never noticed until I actually started looking into autism. I never treated anyone differently after growing up around people with debilitating conditions like MS or Cerebral palsy. But yeah I've seen alot of the rocking, self soothing, akward gait, etc. In alot of Black women. Many of them mask it especially online but when interactions in person happen you can see things in real time.

I long suspected that Nas, Travis Scott, Nicki Minaj and Kanye (the latter especially) might be on the spectrum too. They display most of the hallmark symptoms like intense introversion, being highly creative and skilled in one subject (Nas with lyrics and Kanye with beatmaking/production) and speaking very bluntly (both Nas, Kanye and Nicki are guilty of this).

Severe autism requires a full-time caregiver. You cannot be a functional self sufficient adult and be severely autistic. It's a category meant for people so severe they cant take care of themselves.
