If anything we need to become even MORE organized. Protests should be carefully planned to avoid infiltrators who want to paint any assembly of blacks as violent.

We should have a gathering of our elders and townhall meetings with local perspective police forces and have the news to televise what police forces will do to acknowledge, and rectify the senseless and gratuitous use of violence against blacks.

I want people out there wth flowers, puppies and cute ass kittens offering peace badges to evil looking cops dressed in full war armor to present a juxtaposition of the ultraaggression of the police force against innocents.

Lastly we need to have a police officers protest because racists make THE GOOD officers jobs harder too. They need to stop being afraid and speak up about the shyt they see on the force.

Her lack of vision is stupid and worse, dangerous because she's celebrity with a following.

Shes right about not understanding politics and nor does she understand civil rights. Majority of those people she named have their products available at white owned corporations, so I dont fully get her point. She really lacks self awareness based on that essay.

She's basically saying that things are better than they used to be so we shouldn't rock the boat by fighting fire with fire. We should be happy with the scraps that whitey throws to us. We should be happy that we can now attend integrated schools where we have to fight the white faculty for an education. We should be happy that we can shop in white-owned stores where we can be followed around and illegally detained on accusations of theft. We should be proud of a handful of black entertainers who own percentages of companies that they lie and say they own. We should be happy with our access to whiteness even as our communities are drained for money. If we must acknowledge inequalities, we should petition policitians who either profit off our plights or ignore them because they know that we'll turn out to vote for them anyway. Things are good, but dat debbil Micah threatens to ruin everything so ignore him, m'kay?

idk wtf she's talking about

Black people have been doing all of that since 1619.

And have had it all taken from them repeatedly ever since then.
We've always had high achievers, intellectuals, entrepreneurs, leaders and have always been vast majority law-abiding minded our own goddamn business people. Their businesses got burned, land seized, accoutrements confiscated, women got raped, they got legally exiled from their home towns and states, many of the free were extra-legally re-enslaved, leaders assassinated, men disappeared into rivers and swamps, military veterans got lynched in their uniforms, school were burned to the ground, businesses were pirated undermined and shuttered, children in their Sunday best got beat with batons while dogs were sicced on them.
Respectability politics are bullshyt and so is anyone condoning them.
If you don't make society better for all it will always come back to bite you no matter how much of a bright shining star of a model Negro you think you are. If you don't constantly fight for freedom and equality you will see any progress slowly erode. History and progress are not guaranteed to move in a positive linear pattern. Think how many blacks were better off economically, socially, legally in 1870 than in 1910. Mississippi was the shining star for black political opportunity and investment :comeon:...let that marinate.

A top tier of those who have made it doesn't erase the ills the majority face (and they themselves face just in muted form) or create the equality of opportunity and personhood that is what we have really been fighting for since 1619 not these watered down McDonald's commercial spot version of what our people have actually said. And how many of those people are tokens dealing with bullshyt being the scenes and/or achievers having the mediocrity of their peers and those above them shoved in their faces daily?

People just don't know fukkin shyt about their own goddamn history.
