let's be real besides his inflated numbers mainstream Amerikkka being able to identify with him Mcacfrey is why he is so hyped.. breaking Barry Sanders all purpose yardage record while an achievement is misleading when you consider he did in in 2 more games than Barry and over a third of his yards came on kickoff/punt returns
any Joe Schmo kick returner is guaranteed around 50 plus ypgwhile the rushing/recieving totals are nice they pale in comparison to the precedent set by Barry 
..Mcacfrey imo lacks power,creativity and break away speed as a runner which explains him frequently getting caught from behind and relatively low td total despite all those touches and that he a product of his line opening gaping wholes every game..while he standouts as a receiver out the backfield are lot of 3rd down backs...whiteboy is basically Danny Woodhead/Toby Gerhart 2.0
as far as carrying there team Dalvin Cook, Derrick Henry, Ezekiel Elliott. Leonard Fournette are are clearly better backs/players

Your a clown homie. Gerhart has a way different body frame and skill set then McCaffrey. He was more of a heavier power back, and wasn't talented/fast enough to play slot or pr.
What extra talent did Gerhart have back then ? Luck, and a bunch of Tight Ends ? Ever since Harbaugh took over (with Shaw coaching under him), Stanford has had a power run offensive identity. Most times they go power sets with 4 TE's on the line (they also use extra OL to play blocking TEs ok not this set). The most explosive player they had was WR Ty Montgomery.
