Has there been another album released (in any genre) since then that is mastered/produced/engineered/mixed as perfectly as Chronic 2001? I would really like to know. The audio of this album is so wide, crisp and clear that it's like it's recorded in 3D. If you listen to the album with some decent headphones, you will see exactly what I am talking about.
From a purely production standpoint, I have YET to find anything post 2001 that tops the overall sound of this album. It is mixed perfectly IMO.
It is on par with the mixing/mastering of those classic Pink Floyd, or Steely Dan albums.

I think the mixing on Nastradamous is phenomenal. That's a reference disk for me along with Aquemini.

not all albums are meant to sound "crisp" and "clear". doesn't necessarily mean their mix aren't as good/better. depends on the intent and also on how fresh/original/beautiful the intent is executed.

do you mean has there been an album with a better quality mix or do you mean has there been an album with a sound as "crisp" and "clear"?
i agree with you %100

Just watched Up in smoke tour for the 45th time, and the verdict is no.
The album was fukking insane, too fresh, too original not a single song sounded like anything in rap, specially in the end of the 90s.

Yeah Quick's mixes were always done well.
A friend of mine mentioned Diana Krall having one of those "Best Mixed Albums of all time". I will have to give it a listen. It seems like engineering/mixing is not as important as it once was. The "good" albums are few and far between.

It's not worth it financially to spend the extra time perfecting a mix, when the album is most likely going to be listened to out of sequence through earbuds or laptop speakers.

i'd say the last 3-4 tracks were kinda blah but the rest is pretty cool.

if i recall correctly through my marijuana damaged brain, Bang Bang and Ackrite were towards the end of the album, classic tracks....

Man on the Moon 1 & 2
MBDTF
Nostalgia, Ultra
