You're saying the mixing/engineering is better on the first Chronic?

Not as good as The Chronic
I can still bump The Chronic but 2001 barely gets a listen if at all...
shyt was far from classic
Has there been another album released (in any genre) since then that is mastered/produced/engineered/mixed as perfectly as Chronic 2001? I would really like to know. The audio of this album is so wide, crisp and clear that it's like it's recorded in 3D. If you listen to the album with some decent headphones, you will see exactly what I am talking about.
From a purely production standpoint, I have YET to find anything post 2001 that tops the overall sound of this album. It is mixed perfectly IMO.
It is on par with the mixing/mastering of those classic Pink Floyd, or Steely Dan albums.
i agree with you %100not all albums are meant to sound "crisp" and "clear". doesn't necessarily mean their mix aren't as good/better. depends on the intent and also on how fresh/original/beautiful the intent is executed.
do you mean has there been an album with a better quality mix or do you mean has there been an album with a sound as "crisp" and "clear"?
wow. the amount of albums since the chronic 2001 that sound better. too many to name so ill just shout out the artists.

Yeah Quick's mixes were always done well.
A friend of mine mentioned Diana Krall having one of those "Best Mixed Albums of all time". I will have to give it a listen. It seems like engineering/mixing is not as important as it once was. The "good" albums are few and far between.
I think the mixing on Nastradamous is phenomenal. That's a reference disk for me along with Aquemini.
i'd say the last 3-4 tracks were kinda blah but the rest is pretty cool.
