"Chronicle" director says "Shadow of the Colossus" film is his next project

We knew Chronicle director Josh Trank was a big gamer from our recent interview with him, but now he's going to channel that passion for gaming into bringing Shadow of the Colossus to the big screen!
According to Deadline, Sony has signed the hot up-and-coming filmmaker to direct the movie and is out to writers to script the VFX-heavy film version of the popular game. Kevin Misher (Public Enemies, The Scorpion King) will produce. Trank is also attached to the comic book movies Venom, Red Star and Fantastic Four Reborn.

on second thought this might not be such a good idea, SOC was a classic game but it had no story outside of slaying bosses and saving some princess. Attempting to add a story might be a disaster

they were cool because of the quality of the camera... but up against a real 35mm crisp picture...

The game will still be great if this movie is made or not. If anything it should make someone appreciate the game even more

I could see SoTC working as a film, but it would take someone like a Terrence Malick to the pull it off and the director would need to have full creative control. The strongest part of of Chronicle were the cinematography and effects so it's Trank could do some really cool shyt with a big budget, but Shadow of The Colossus has the type of premise that's begging to be shat on by major-studio decision makers.
