The music being made today isn't meant for 50 year olds. Everyone has their own flavor. I let the youngins do them. I grew up in a different era. Old nikkas like chuck d need to fall back.
Son u need OG's to keep the younger dudes straight..especially these young cats now..if anything..hip hop been losing since the younger and older cats disconnected.

It's not about checking nobody. Rap music is about competition and you're only as good as your last record. Mainstream will always be that. nikkas rapping about the same shyt they did in the 80's and 90's. The only difference is the slang and production. Same old excuses. At the end of the day it's just music. People take it how they want it.

  • silencing of intelligence has hurt the black community, more than the dumbassification
  • Don't know or care to know hot97 peeps
  • Talk of relevance, is irrelevant.
  • Harlem was the mecca, so anyone calling themselves the sound of new york is bullshyt.
  • Respect the architecture and and source of hip-hop
  • Somebody with a job, and works in a bubble in a building, is irrelevant
  • New York is the mecca, and should be treated as such
  • radiostations use arbitron to calculate "success"
  • Who controls the narrative
  • "Black is the curse word, N-word is the anthem"
  • Common has been removed from "Common Sense," resulting in the lack of reasoning and logic, in turn make those into robots
  • Acting your age (30's the 20's)
  • COINTELPRO
  • Celebrity is the new drug
  • Fame is fake and concocted. This is because it fades, just like fake things
  • Our enemies are planning into 2035
  • If you love something, KNOW ABOUT IT.
  • People not of the culture, are going to be the ones to tell the story because they KNOW AND RESEARCH
  • Married to the gadgets
  • Sight and sound are the tools of mind control
  • TO STRIP A MAN OF HIS IDENTITY, STRIP HIM OF HISTORY AND GEOGRAPHY
  • MANAGING TECHNOLOGY
  • HIP-HOP vs RAP
  • RAP-MUSIC- Vocal over music

I disagree with basically everything you've said in this thread.

First off, rap was a young man's game 15-25+ years ago, because young people were the ones moving the culture forward. I don't mean buying shyt, anybody can buy shyt, I mean old heads being shook the first time they heard a young LL or Rakim. Like :merchant:"damn, I need to step my bars up before I'm obsolete".

So yes, definitely, back then it was a young man's game. Now....do you seriously think Chuck D or KRS or whoever is intimidated by the shyt Chief Keef or Young Thug is putting out. They probably listen to it like :mjlol:"I'm supposed to step aside for this? :camby: fukk outta here"

Half the rappers selling, and that have been selling over the last decade, are in their 30's, or close to it. The only thing young people do nowadays is buy shyt, with the exception of a handful of people.

Fred.
