Believe it or not, people can feel more than one emotion at a time and care about more than one thing.
People are angry at republicans, and they're angry at democrats making meaningless gestures and attacking their own people instead of trying to come together in a unified front and propose what they can do to stop trump's agenda from being enforced in their jurisdictions and how they'll undo the damage he's done with policy reforms.
The only politicians that are talking about things people actually want like universal childcare, health care, an end to the unquestioned support of Israel, ending stock buybacks, breaking up big tech, regulating the financial sector, increased taxes on millionaires and billionaires and raising the minimum wage are the ones that democrats like schumer or that robot passing itself off as a human called Hakeem Jeffries are attacking or refusing to support.
The media and establishment democrats have shown their ass. The republicans are evil, that's a given, but symbolic gestures like this aren't helping them beat the "controlled opposition" allegations. The good news is that there are people who are watching and learning, they're understanding that people like David Hogg were right and the leadership of the Democratic Party has to be replaced by people who actually want to do their jobs instead of going on TV to repeat talking points and then delegating everything to their staff because what Trump wants to do won't actually negatively affect them that much personally.
People like Chuck Schumer don't need medicaid. They're not in student loan debt, they're not at the mercy of an a$$hole landlord, they aren't working in a toxic workplace where they could be fired any minute and are exhausted but then have to go to their next job so they can pay the bills. These people's citizenship isn't at risk, their healthcare isn't at risk, their housing isn't at risk, their family isn't at risk. If shyt gets too hot for them, they'll literally just buy a first class plane ticket and live in one of the countries that allows you to buy citizenship.
They aren't living in reality and they need to step aside and let those who are work on the behalf of the people that send them to washington. There are people who will say "fukk it I'm running" after studying how the media treats people who have 'controversial' ideas like re-investing in public transit, supporting unions, raising taxes on the top 5% of earners, and enforcing the laws of the land with respect to employee rights, consumer safety, privacy, and cutting off subsidies for billion-trillion dollar companies that don't need them. They'll be ready for the smears, they'll be ready for the character assasination attempts. They'll be ready to actually respond to the currents of fascism growing in this country and they'll be experts at rhetorical jujitsu and will make these out of touch, old, establishment politicians look absolutely stupid and unserious the way Obama did to Mccain back in 2008.

It's not just about the numbers.
It's about the vision for the future, and a comprehensive strategy of ensuring that people who are in red districts but don't know how this bill will affect them will put pressure on their representatives to get them to break ranks and vote against it. It's about talking about lawsuits and legal challenges, it's about reassuring your constituents that you will use local policies to make it as hard as possible to comply with the Trump agenda. It's their fukking JOB to come up with policies, strategies, and plans to reassure their constituents and explain to americans how if they win again, how they'll not only undo what was done, but also build a better version of this country.
I expect the average person to throw up their hands and say "oh well they don't have the votes" I don't expect elected officials to be acting like millions of people's tax dollars aren't paying them to actually represent their constituents instead of their donors.

When people say the Democratic Party, it goes beyond the lawmakers, it’s the entire DNC apparatus which also includes donors. Sure, they may not be able to attack Trump’s agenda legislatively. But these are the richest, most influential people in the western hemisphere. They have enough financial firepower to fight Trump’s agenda in a way that goes beyond empty platitudes.What the fukk is this?
